These instructions are for installing drivers on a
Windows Seven laptop, to allow it to print to the laser printer in the
Children's Room, while connected to a public wireless access point
at the Galion Public Library.
- Connect your laptop to the library's public wireless access
(GPL Guest).
- Download the printer driver for the Dell S5830dn.
If you trust the library (and your system is 64-bit), you can just
click here to download the driver installer from us.

Better yet, you can
get
it directly from the Dell support website.
- Wait for the driver file to finish downloading. This may take a few minutes.
- Right-click on the downloaded driver file, and choose
Run as administrator
from the context menu.
- UAC will prompt you to confirm that
you really want to run the driver installer as administrator. Say yes.
Depending on your Windows configuration, you may also need to type in your
administrator password at this time.
- The Dell installer will display a license agreement. Scroll
down through the agreement, reading as much of it as you want to read.
(The Agree button will not be enabled until you scroll
all the way down to the bottom of the text. Because lawyers.)
- Click the Accept button to accept the license agreement.
- The driver installer will show you a

at least take note of where the driver files are being extracted.
- Click the Start button to start the extraction.
- After the driver files are extracted, the

This is the address of the Children's Room laser
printer (
Donley
) on the library's local area network.
Note that this address is inherently local, and is not
reachable from outside the library. This is why you have to be
connected to the library's wireless access point, in order to use
our printer. The printer is not reachable from outside our network.
Printing to the library's printer from home, is possible via
the web upload form.
- Click the Next button.
- Be patient. This part takes a couple of minutes.
- Eventually, it should tell you that
You've successfully added donley
.
The name of the printer is
donley
.
- Click the Next button.
- Choose
Do not share this printer
.
The printer already shares itself, so there is no reason to
set your laptop up as a middleman for other people to print through.
- Click the
Next
button.
- Click the
Finish
button.
- That's it. Your laptop should now be able to print to the
Children's Room laser printer,
whenever you are connected to the library's wireless network.
