Pumpkin Painting Contest
Do you have the most creative pumpkin in the patch? Submit your entry to our contest.
Entries can be brought into the library beginning Monday, October 17th. Pumpkins may not be carved in any way, and the paint on the pumpkins must be dry to be accepted. Submitted creations will be placed on display at the library, and patrons will be encouraged to visit the library and vote for their favorite pumpkin. Judging will take place on Thursday, November 17th. Contestants do not need to be present to win.
Prizes will be given for Best in Show
(public vote) and The Great Pumpkin
(library staff vote). Prizes will be given in two age categories, 13+ and 12 and under. The winners in each category will receive a $15 Barnes & Noble gift card. Entry forms are available at the main desk.
Harry Potter Party (grades 4-12)

Family Movie Day
The children's department will be showing
a PG-rated film about animals.
Popcorn and drinks will be provided. Bring your own pillow and blanket. This event is free, but registration is required: call or stop by the library to sign up.
Holiday Crafts
Come in any time during library hours for holiday crafts that you can make and take home.
You don't need to register for these crafts: you can just stop in any time we're open.

Stuffed Animal Sleepover
You and your stuffed animal friend are invited to the library for pajama party fun. Afterward, your stuffed friend can stay and spend the night.
We'll have teddy-bear-themed stories, crafts, and activities. All participants will get pictures of their stuffed friends having fun at the library after hours. Stuffed animals will need to be picked up on Saturday between 9 and 5. For grades K-2. Registration is required: sign up now.

Gingerbread House Contest
Start your holiday season with a bit of edible art and let your imagination go wild.
Entries should be brought to the library staring Saturday, November 26th. Entrants may use any edible ingredient to construct their gingerbread
houses. This year, bonus points will be given to creations that are island-themed
to fit our Polynesian island-themed open house.
Judges will award first- and second-place prizes for each of the following categories: Ages 9 and under
, Ages 10 and up
, and Groups
.
Additionally, a grand prize for Best in Show
will be determined by popular vote, so entrants will want to get their houses submitted as early in the week as possible to get as many Best in Show
votes as they can.

Judging will take place on the morning of Dec. 3rd, prior to Galion Public Library's Holiday Open House. Contestants do not need to be present to win.

Noel Lizotte will demonstrate recipes for one or two people and how to convert larger recipes to fit your family's needs.

Christmas Open House
Join us for our Polynesian-themed Christmas Open House.
Enjoy the song and dance of the islands. Traditional Polynesian-island hula dancing will be presented by Hula Fusion beginning at 1, and Island Jeff will provide island steel pan drum music from 2 to 3.
Carriage and wagon rides (co-sponsored by Galion Building and Loan, Galion Historical Society, and Come Home to Galion) will travel in a loop between the library and Brownella Cottage, where the historical society will also be holding their open house starting at 1pm.
Everyone who attends will receive a door prize ticket to be entered into a drawing for either an ASUS 10.1 inch Touch Chromebook Flip or an Xbox 1S Console / Minecraft Bundle. Make sure to grab a ticket at either door when you first enter the library.
Gingerbread House contest entries will be on display for public viewing. Judges will award first- and second-place prizes for each category, and a grand prize for Best in Show

Two special story times are planned at 1:30 and 2:30 in the Children's Room.
Crafts, with an island theme, will be available for children of all ages and their parents in the Community Room. You can drop in and do a craft any time between 1 and 3.
There will be cookies (baked fresh by three different local bakers) and delicious island punch.

Lego Club

Join us for anime, manga, cosplay, and Japanese culture.

Teen Board Meeting
5:30pm on the third Thursday each month.
The teen board will meet to discuss teen matters and plan future events.
